Attractants assessment in capture of fruit flies in cultivation of Taiwanese Guava (Psidium guajava L.), León, Nicaragua, 2018

Fruit production at the national level is affected by various organisms, with the fruit fly complex causing the greatest loss. The purpose was to evaluate the capture of fruit flies in the cultivation of Taiwanese guava (Psidium guajava L.) by implementing four food attractants (Ceratrap, Borax de torula, triple component and hydrolyzed protein + malathion), in two types of traps (Multilure and Artisan). This study was carried out in the El Jicaral municipality, in León, Nicaragua. The variables evaluated were: number of adults, number of females, number of males. Descriptive statistics, analysis of variance of repeated measures and correlation were used. The traps baited with Ceratrap obtained the highest captures of adults of the fruit fly complex for both sexes, being the genus Anastrepha the one with the highest presence, the species A. obliqua, A. striata and A. distincta, stood out. The presence of Ceratitis capitata was low, which showed that this municipality has a low prevalence.
